My name is Rick Olsen. I'm 51 years of age and I live in a small town in southwestern lower Michigan, USA. I share my home with two cats. I enjoy them and I like to think that they enjoy me too. I like dogs but I love cats. Always have…a man who loves cats…go figure.
I have a miracle son, Joshua. I call him my miracle son for many reasons. He was born with high functioning autism. At four he almost died from a severe asthma attack. At seven he was diagnosed with cancer and given a 30% chance of survival. I fell apart and went crazy for awhile.
Through it all I never heard him complain, not even once. He missed a year and a half of school, yet he graduated with his class. He's 21 now, doing well, and I'm so proud of him and who he is. I've learned so much from him. When I feel like whining about anything, I think of him and know that I am blessed. Then I press on just as he did. I love him and I'm very grateful.
I'm one part arm chair philosopher, one part writer, and I'm always thinking and learning. Knowledge is POWER and I'm a voracious reader. I love to learn and do. I hope you do too.
